5 Tips for Keeping Your Jewelry Safe While Traveling This Summer

Spread the love

Summer is finally here and we’re all venturing off on our summer vacations we have planned for so long. I know all my ladies are planning to bring their accessories to fit their summer look and jewelry is a big part of that. Here are 5 tips for keeping your jewelry safe while traveling this summer!

1. Don’t keep expensive jewelry in your check-in baggage

After traveling to over 50 countries, I’ve had my share fair of lessons, some were positive and others I would have rather not experienced. One important lesson that I did learn was to never leave money or expensive jewelry in your check in bags. I’ve had it stolen in the past and will never do it again. Even if you think you might have hidden something really well, it’s just not worth the risk. I have hidden cash in the oddest places and have had it stolen. Always carry cash with you and your expensive jewelry in your carry-on or purse. Better be safe than sorry.

2. Jewelers Insurance

I know that some of us are well aware by now that there is traveler’s insurances and how important it is to have it, I’ve blogged about it a few times. However, travelers insurance doesn’t cover stolen/damaged jewelry and accidents do happen no matter how careful we are, so consider getting jewelry insurance with Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company

Jewelers Mutual has been exclusive insuring jewelry for more than 100 years and offers repair or replacement coverage that includes worldwide travel protection for all types of jewelry and watches. Coverage includes loss, theft, damage, and mysterious disappearance (unexplained loss). Again, no matter how careful we are with our jewelry when traveling, accidents happen. That’s why there’s insurance. Get the right coverage before you embark on your summer adventures.

3. Use A Safe

In this day in age almost all 4 and 5-star hotels have a safe in the room, use this to your advantage. I know it can sometimes be overlooked but this is a great way to ensure that your jewelry is safe. Also, super important that before you leave and do your room check up that you didn’t forget anything, make sure to also check the safe in your room. In many cases, if items are left behind in a safe, you can call the hotel back and they will ship you back your lost item.

4.  Keep all Jewelry In One Place

There are so many cute jewelry travel bags nowadays that you can literally find almost anywhere. Try keeping all your jewelry in one place in a jewelry travel bag that way, you don’t think for second that you might have misplaced a piece. It’s happened to me so many times in the past. Save yourself the stress.

5. Plan Your Outfits

Before I travel, I normally like to plan my outfits and accessories for them. I’ll lay my clothes on my bed and then accessorize it. This helps me to not over pack and also not bring more jewelry and accessories than I actually need. Jewelry does tend to be heavy and during the trips where I don’t bring expensive jewelry, I do check it in my luggage and never want to be overweight because of it. So try planning everything before you venture off on your amazing summer getaway.
