Welcome to Vanilla Sky Dreaming. I’m Hofit Kim Cohen–a full-time travel blogger, vlogger and a social media influencer.
I created Vanilla Sky Dreaming in 2014 after years of traveling the world, soul searching for my purpose in life and trying to figure out my dream career.
After trying my hand at a few different types of careers such as being a makeup artist, model, sales trainer, accessory designer and owner of my own costume line, but quickly lost interest. I came to realize through my soul-searching path that one thing was never going to change; my love for traveling.
Somewhere between all of that, I ended up creating my dream job.
I was born in Israel, but my family moved to sunny California (Los Angeles) at the age of 8, after running away from war with my family. Even at the age of 8, I was already used to moving around and life on the road. I lived in 5 major cities before I was 10 years old, went to 9 different schools from 1-12 grade and since then, I’ve lived in over 35 houses in the world and called them home. I’ve spent most of my life living in Los Angeles, but have also lived in various cities including Miami, New York City, Baltimore, Philly, Malibu, Ness Ziona, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
I don’t know what it’s like to stay in one place — I never have.
What I do know is that I’ve always been a big dreamer and strong believer that nothing is out of reach. If you want something, you gotta go out there and make it happen for yourself.
If there is a bucket list item on my list, I’m going to put a check mark on it. I strive on being fearless, which is all that led me to be a female solo traveler. I didn’t want to wait around for people to make my dreams come true, I wanted to go out there and experience this amazing world and live my life to the fullest each and every day. The best part is that you can too! That’s why I created Vanilla Sky Dreaming, to inspire and teach you how to go out there and make your traveling dreams a reality.
I think it’s always important to step out of my convert zone and live life on the edge.
I’ve swam with sharks in Punta Cana, swam with icebergs in the Arctic Circle, slept in an ice hotel, saw the northern lights in Iceland, zip-lined through the jungles on the longest and highest zip lines in the Caribbean, I washed wild elephants in India, celebrated New Years in Paris, learned to surf in Hawaii. I even once was on a plane that almost crashed and also visited a country during a war. My life is an endless movie of adventures and I can’t wait to share it with you.
*95% of my travels are solo.
* The first time I traveled solo, I was 11 years old! (It was my 11th birthday and I begged my parents for days to send me to Israel for my birthday so that I could spend it with my amazing grandpa. They agreed!)
*I moved out of my parents’ house when I was 18 years old–only two months after high school.
*The first country that I’ve been to other than America (it doesn’t count because I lived there) was Argentina! Did you know that I’m half Argentian and Moroccan?
*The first country I traveled in solo was Italy with Contiki!
*The first time I flew on a plane was when I was 6 years old. I won a contest and had to select 1 out of 4 prizes, and I picked to fly on a plane.
