The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide

Breaking Bad was one of the biggest and best shows ever made. If you haven’t watched it by now or finished it, you better get to it because you’re missin out. (SPOILER ALERT)

Although I might have been late to the game, I was hooked from the first episode. I binge-watched all six seasons in 3 weeks and then later watched it 3-4 other times from beginning to end with friends and family.

Meeting the Cast of Breaking Bad

I was even lucky enough to meet most of the cast in the promotion of the sixth season part 2 DVD release. I had a good laugh with Bob Odenkirk, who plays Saul Goodman, when I told him he was amazing with a smile and he replied with “You know, I tell my wife that all the time and she never seems to believe me.”, The cast and I got a good laugh. He is just as funny in person as he was on the show. Later on, it turned out that we parked our cars right next to each other and spoke for a few minutes and he shared with me that they are working on “Better Call Saul” before it was even publicly released.

“We’re done when I say we’re done.” – Walter White

Unlike most Hollywood TV shows, Breaking Bad was filmed in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bryan Cranston, who played Walter White, fell in love with Albuquerque so much that he ended up buying himself a home there. My good travel blogger friend, Erin Bender from Travel With Bender, recently visited all the Breaking Bad locations with her family, which inspired me to write this post. Watching her snapchats, felt like I was going back in time with Walter and Jesse to where it all began.

Walter White and Skyler’s House

The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide walter white house

“I am the one who knocks!” – Walter White

First and foremost, Walter and Skyler White’s house, where it all began and where you want to begin your tour. Although this was the famous house where Walter White lived and where a pizza flew on the roof, the current residence of the house, don’t like anyone to take any photos in front of their house and are very strict on that, with a “Private Property. No Trespassing” sign on the front of the house. These people don’t even want you on their sidewalk.

So your best shot at taking a photo of the house is from your car down the street or standing in the middle of the street and taking a QUICK photo.

The A-1 Car Wash

The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide A-1 Carwash

“I’m not in the meth business. I’m in the empire business” – Saul Goodman

Featured originally in Season 1 and later in Season 3, after Skyler finds out the truth about Walter’s meth empire and why Walter has been acting strange lately, she suggested they buy a car wash for money laundering purposes and they do. A-1 Car Wash is currently called Octopus Car Washes and one of the most famous locations from Breaking Bad. If you rented a car, get a wash or snap a few photos, before heading out to your next location.

Address: 9516 Snow Heights Cir NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87112

Los Pollos Hermanos

The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide Los Pollos

“I don’t think we are alike at all Mr. White.” – Gus Fring

I still can’t get over the day Gus died. I almost thought the show wasn’t worth watching anymore, but his death scene was epic! Although Gus isn’t alive and with us today, the legacy he left behind was Los Pollos Hermanos and will forever live on. The famous Los Pollo Hermanos is really called Twisters. Twisters is indeed, a chain throughout Albuquerque, New Mexico and serves New Mexican fast food, so be sure to stop in and get yourself a lunch. They also still have Los Pollos Hermanos posters and other breaking bad memorabilia. (www.twistersinc.com)

“Don’t drink and drive. But if you do, call me.” – Saul Goodman

In season 3, Saul Goodman suggests that Jesse buys a nail salon to launder his money. The nail salon used on the show is an actual real nail salon. The show used the real staff at the nail salon as extras in the few scenes. It was also later used for ‘Better Call Saul’.

Hank and Marie’s House

The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide Hank and Marie's house The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide Hank's house

“Chick’s got an ass like an onion…makes me want to cry.” – Hank

Hank was a badass DEA agent and was always a good friend to Walter, up until he found out who the real Heisenberg was. I think many of us were shocked to see him go, after saying one of the greatest quotes in the show to Walter, ” You’re the smartest guy I ever met… but you’re too stupid to see… He made up his mind ten minutes ago”.

Marie was definitely an annoying character in the beginning and it may have taken some of us time to get used to her, but she turned out to be not such a bad sister after all to Skyler….or did she?

Visit Hank and Marie’s house.

Address: 4901 Cumbre del Sur Ct.

Denny’s – Walter’s Celebrating his 52nd birthday

“Say My NAME!” – Walter White AKA Heisenberg

Season 5 begins when Walter is having eggs and bacon for breakfast at Denny’s for his 52nd birthday, only this time alone, after this family learns the truth about him. This Denny’s was actually used in 2 scenes on the show, the other time was in season 4 after Walter and Jesse were done cleaning up after Victor.

Jesse Pinkman’s House

“Yo 148, 3 to the 3 to the 6 to the 9. Representin’ the ABQ. What up, biatch? Leave it at the tone!” – Jesse Pinkman

This is Jesse’s original house that his aunt gave to him. His parents thought they sold the house to someone else, little did they know that they sold it back to Jesse. Jesse managed to throw some pretty crazy parties in that house and ended up turning that house into a crackhouse. He also spent some very depressing days in that house, cooked meth there and who can forget, the famous bathtub scene. His house is located in a Country Club neighborhood.

Address: 322 16th St SW. 87104

Crystal Palace AKA Crossroads Motel

crossroads motel - The Breaking Bad Locations In Albuquerque – The Ultimate Breaking Bad Guide

“And Windy has stormy eyes, that flash at the sound of lies. And Windy has wings to fly, Above the clouds (above the clouds)….” – Wendy’s song

Who can forget dear old Wendy? Classic character. The Crossroads motel was used for the hang out spots of crackheads, prostitutes and straight talks at night. Jesse himself spent a few nights there and Hank showed Walter Jr. AKA “Flynn”, what not to grow up and be when he thought he was smoking weed. If you’re on a budget, maybe it’s not such a bad idea to spend a night at the famous Crossroads motel, however, you were warned.

Address: 1001 Central Ave. NE 87106

Dog House

“Yeah, Mr. White! Yeah, science!” – Jesse

The Dog House became a pretty popular spot on Breaking Bad mainly with Jesse and his gang. Jesse sold meth here and also gave a homeless man money. A good place to get a quick lunch, it’s super cheap.

“TO W.W., MY STAR, MY PERFECT SILENCE.’ W.W., I mean, who do you figure that is? Woodrow Wilson? Willy Wonka? Walter White?” – Hank
Don’t leave Albuquerque just yet, you haven’t visited the Candy Lady and she sells some good old blue meth. Well, not real crystal meth, candy meth. Dress up like Walter White, play with some blue meth and even take some home with you. The blue crystal meth at this spot was actually used on the show for props and my dear friend Erin from Travel with Bender stopped by with her kids, here is a photo of them above.
