My 10 Favorite Things About Barcelona
I absolutely love Barcelona! Last winter, a few hours before my flight to London and Paris, I made the decision at 5am that if I’m already going to Europe, I might as well see the city I’ve been dreaming of, since seeing Vicky Christina Barcelona. I went ahead and changed my flights and added this amazing city to my list. I seriously had no idea what I was gonna do there and I was traveling alone.
All I had was a flight and a hostel booked and I was planning on staying there for almost a week. So my last night in London, I decided to buy a tour guide book of Barcelona since wifi was hard to find. I only really had a few hours before my flight departures. So only on my flight there, did I decide on the things I wanted to see and do when I got there. To my surprise, I completely covered almost everything there was to see and do in my time there and it was a great time, solo!
Here are my 10 favorite things about Barcelona!
Park Güell
This place is just perfect. You can get lost in this beautiful park for hours. After a bit of an uphill walk you finally get to the top of Park Guell and it’s quite a sight to see. Aside from having one of the most beautiful views of the city from up high, it’s just filled with beautiful artwork. It’s the perfect place for all those artists out there, to get some inspiration. After enjoying the view, I had stumbled upon a guitar’s who played the most beautiful Spanish music on his guitar. I felt like I was walking onto a movie set, everything seemed so perfect, the location, the beauty, the sun and the sweet sound coming from his guitar. I sat on a bench for a while and enjoyed this blissful moment. Love this place!
Casa Batlló (Gaudí House)
You really can’t appreciate the amazing artwork of Gaudí until you walk through his house and see the magic before your eyes! Every inch of this house is filled with creativity, there isn’t a place he missed! From the walls to the ceilings, the door handles, windows, rooftop and garden! AMAZING! What a work of art! The details are just unreal! I can’t wait to go back there again one day, hopefully with my mom.
Casa Milà (Gaudí Roof Top)
Is a sight to be seen! The photos can’t even begin to describe, the true beauty of this masterpiece!
La Rambla
Totally touristy, but I love cheesy touristy spots! I loved walking this long street and seeing all the great street shows, art, people and restaurants. You can’t go to Barcelona and not go to La Rambla.
La Boqueria (Food Market)
Their food market is one of the nicest and biggest I’ve seen, so many great things you can find there. I actually had a whole dinner there just by buying a little bit of everything. Great place for chocolates too 😉
La Plaça De Catalunya (town center)
First of all, I’m just obsessed with just saying that name, “Plaça De Catalunya!” But other than that, this is Barcelona’s town center, kinda like the Time Square of Barcelona! It’s always busy with millions of people, from here you can find taxis, tour buses, great restaurants and shopping!
Flamenco Show at La Espana
AMAZING! My first night in Barcelona, straight out of the airport I had booked to see the Flamenco Show at La Espana (El Tablao de Carmen), which, if you’re going see it anywhere you have got to see it there! The show comes with a 5 course dinner and red wine. Perfectly lit with dimmed lighting and candle lights on each table. The performers were just incredible! They literally stole my heart away, to the point where when it was over, I didn’t want to leave. Sooo passionate and in sync. I probably made over 15 videos alone that night.
Light Show at the Magic Fountain
Every Friday The Montjuïc Castle, has a beautiful light show at their famous water fountain. If you happen to be in Barcelona on a Friday night, you must go and see this, it’s just beautiful. I think it resembles the water show in the Bellagio in Vegas, not the same but the same style.
Tapas
YUMMY! I lived off of tapas in my time in Barcelona! Being a vegetarian and wanting to try so many different things, this is the best way to go!
The Architecture
There is something so special about the way Barcelona was built! Most of it has to do with Gaudí but it’s so unique and a must see.
OK! Writing this just made me wanna go to Barcelona so bad!!! 😉
It is a fantastic city and one which you can visit over and over again. Great list – makes me want to visit very soon….
haha After writing that, that’s how I felt
It’s been a long long time since I was last in Barcelona but good to see it is still gorgeous and look forward to returning.
Yes! It’s amazing there!
You’ve just given me 10 new reasons to get my behind to Barcelona!

Looks like you really made a dent in your Barcelona wish list!! I adored it when I went a couple of years ago, I had half a day there this summer and went to Casa Milá which I didn’t manange last time and I was so glad I made that decision 🙂 love the city.
Yes the Casa Milá is a master piece! Glad you did it too! Amazing city!
I had my flights and accommodation all planned out to go to Barcelona, but it just wasn’t meant to be. These were all places I wanted to see and things I wanted to do! I really want to go now.
