I Moved To Philadelphia!

Spread the love

Not forever! Just for the holiday season.

I know it’s been a while since I’ve updated and I’m sorry, but so much has changed in the last few weeks.

So the question on everyone’s mind is why did I leave sunny California for a cold winter in the east coast. So here is the rundown and all the details on my recent and spontaneous move to Philly.

I tend to do pretty random things and make pretty impulsive decisions sometimes, if you haven’t noticed. For better or for worse (mostly better), it’s just how I’ve always chose to live my life. Sometimes life gives you good opportunities and you just gotta take them. So I made my decision to move to Philly within just a week and a half, after deciding to ditch my trip to Thailand.

Here’s the thing…

I’ve never really been the biggest fan of Los Angeles, it’s always been more convenient for me than anything else. I grew up there and have many friends there and half of my family lives there too. So it makes it easier for me when I travel to have someone watch over my dog. I also love being close by the beach and have a big love for Malibu, which is where I spend most of my free time. I have a flexible job there, that allows me to make extra cash and well, it’s summer all year long in sunny California. But sometimes I feel like I get too comfortable living in LA, which to me isn’t really living. I always think that in order to keep growing as a person, you should always play with your comfort zone. I typically take that statement to the extreme, but some how it always works out for me in the end.

Earlier in October, when I was deciding whether or not to go to Thailand for a travel blogger event, I was offered a job by my previous boss, who I used to work for 2 years ago. He offered me to manage a brand new project just for the holiday season.

While many things about this project made me worried and question myself, like what would happen to my blog if I moved away and started a new job for 2 months or what happens to my Thailand trip and my current apartment in LA, I figured what’s 2 months really? It’s only really 60 days. I can keep blogging and writing about the east coast, New York City is less than 2hrs away, I can rent my apartment in LA and I can always go to Thailand. Most importantly, the money I make doing this project could provide me with a long term trip around the world and at the end of the day, that’s all I care about, is traveling.

I was offered a good deal and after about 2-3 days, I decided, why not! So I packed up my warm clothes and moved to Philadelphia a week and a half later.

I’ve been to Philadelphia before and liked it. I absolutely love the fall and winter and honestly, their is no better place to experience my favorite seasons, than an actual city that gets cold. Los Angeles doesn’t really have a “real” winter and I just love to rock my boots, scarfs, coats and gloves. Which is why I normally travel to Europe in the winter.

Funny enough, at first I didn’t even realize that moving to a new city would still be considered traveling. Maybe it was all the stress of making the decision, but I’ve been currently living in Philly for 2 weeks and it’s actually pretty nice! I love the architecture here and the beautiful golden and red trees everywhere I go. Today I got lost for almost 2hrs and loved it because I got to see such a beautiful part of the city.

I’ll be back in Los Angeles around the beginning of January. I’ll also be making a few trips out to Manhattan and possibly Washington DC and of course, planning my next year of traveling, which I gotta tell ya, I have some pretty awesome countries on the list. I’ve also already made my New Years plans, which if you don’t know me by now, I take New Years as a pretty big deal and normally travel to a different country to celebrate.

I’m super excited about my move here and what’s in store for Vanilla Sky Dreaming in the next few months!

  1. Philadelphia is a great city, and a great place to be situated between New York and Washington, DC. I went to college at Penn and used to travel back there several times a year. Fall is one of my favorite times to visit, as I live in LA too, and I miss the colors!
