Iceland, The Place Where Dreams Are Made!

Spread the love

Have you ever dreamt of that perfect place somewhere in the world, that you’ve been dying to go see? You’ve pictured what it would look like, feel like, what you would experience, what the sky would look like or walking down the street? Sure, you have, we all have and most of the time our dreams are much different than the reality of it. But how about arriving at that destination, only to realize that it is EXACTLY, how you’ve pictured it and even better! You feel like you’re walking through your dream and are making your dreams come true.

That’s what Iceland was to me!

For years now, I have been dreaming of swimming in that crystal clear, aqua glowing, water in the Blue Lagoon. With the steam rising above the water, swimming up to the water bar and floating away in pure bliss.

I have also been dreaming of the day and moment, that I will see the Northern Lights dancing before my eyes, into a green and pink aurora glow, looking over a sky full of stars. Who would’ve ever known how real that all could have been!

Over the past few days, I have been in complete heaven, making these dreams come true. I have been talking and trying to plan the perfect trip to make this dream a reality for over 10 years. Funny enough, my wallpaper for my desktop is even of the Blue Lagoon, that’s how much I have been intrigued with this part of the world.

(Snowstorm!)

The weather wasn’t great in Iceland, it was clearly freezing, as we are in the middle of the winter. I have been through rain storms, snow storms, crazy winds and got to the point where I couldn’t feel my face, hands or feet. The sun only came out for 4-5hrs in 24hrs, normally between 11:17am-4:15pm, of course, that was IF it wasn’t overcast, which mostly it was. But I just didn’t care, because it was all with a big smile on my face. I’m clearly sick and to be honest, it was totally worth it, because nothing can stop you from making your dreams come true. The only thing that can ever get in between our dreams, is ourselves. So I say, GO make your dreams a reality! There is nothing more satisfying in the world than knowing you’ve made your dreams come true.

I can honestly say that there was nothing higher on my bucket list than seeing the Northern Lights and going to the blue lagoon. I’m still almost shocked that I actually did it and it still hasn’t hit me. I don’t even know what is the next highest thing on my list because, to me, nothing comes close to these magical moments. And the greatest part, they were just as amazing as I thought they would be.

But let’s talk about Iceland a little bit, shell we…

Iceland is so much better than I ever thought it would be, it was absolutely perfect. It reminded me of some kind of a fancy ski resort location in a Hollywood movie or those little houses you can buy from a Christmas store and build your own Christmas town. The snow was perfectly piled on the rooftops of every building, the Christmas lights were perfect lit throughout the whole city, every window had a Christmas tree. Everyone who walked down the street was dressed so well and fancy. The music was just right everywhere I went. There were candles lit everywhere as well, creating such a relaxed feeling. The streets were clean and the snow was floating through the sky making it a winter wonderland.

Reykjavik iceland

Reykjavik, the major city in Iceland and where I stayed, was absolutely stunning and perfect. There really isn’t any other way to describe it. Everything there is peaceful and safe. The Icelanders are adorable with such a great sense of humor. They all absolutely LOVE their country and so proud of it. I found it pretty refreshing that many of the locals still enjoy the Northern Lights and all the nature in the country, even though they have seen it their whole life. They still manage to find the “WOW” in everyday living and carry a big professional camera everywhere they go.

Over this trip to Iceland, I really did a lot. Besides seeing the Northern Lights and going to the Blue Lagoon, I got to see the Golden Circle, Geysir geothermal area, where I saw water shooting into the sky at 70 meters in the air, amazing! Which happens randomly every 4-8mins. I visited the amazing Gullfoss (Golden Falls) waterfall in Southern Iceland, which completely took my breath away. I went to the Thingvellir National Park, which was stunning, I have never seen more beautiful stones/rocks in my life. I wondered off in the beautiful streets of Reykjavik and saw the famous Hallgrimskirkja church. I met some amazing and great people everywhere I went and I feel so grateful.

I seriously visited some of the most beautiful places in the world.

Geysir iceland

I really can’t wait to go back there again, it’s definitely a place to visit more than once. At one point I even randomly considered moving there for a few months, after meeting a few people who have done that and heard such great stories from them.

Iceland has now easily become one of my top favorite countries, which currently are the 3 “I’s” Italy, Israel and Iceland.

LOVE LOVE LOVE ICELAND!
