Hi guys! So for a while now…lol probably 2 years, I’ve been meaning to start a Vanilla Sky Dreamers Newsletter. I think I tried setting it up a couple of times and kind of gave up since it seemed too complicated, but now it’s on! I’m ready to start a monthly newsletter! I’ve set it up and it’s ready to go!
Now I am not here to spam your email account like most people or companies do lol. As we speak, I have 33,239 unread emails, so I feel you guys! God only knows how long that list has been going on for, but most of it is spam and I hate spam emails.
Why I’m Starting A Newsletter
Well first, I’ve been asked by quite a few people to start one. I love reading your comments and input and giving you guys what you want because at the end of the day this site is for you!
So here’s the thing right, I’ll admit, I suck at deadlines and in today’s world, there are so many social media platforms that it gets hard to keep up with everything everywhere, even for me.
When I travel, I like to actually enjoy my trip to the fullest, I never rest. I’m like a non-stop traveling machine. I take thousands of pictures on most days, make so many videos, read, write and explore and at the end of the day I can’t keep my eyes opened. I like to enjoy my trip as it happens – to the fullest. Sometimes I edit photos on my time off but only when I get home and take it all in, do I like to start uploading everything on my social media.
Every trip is such an overwhelming process of madness, but through my emails, you will know exactly where I’m going and when I’ll be back and what’s next, in real time.
One of my biggest pet peeves is people that travel and are ALWAYS on their phone, it drives me nuts! Like HELLO! Enjoy the beautiful view and the world in front of your eyes – LIVE!
I guess you’d think it’s funny coming from a travel blogger and yes, I sometimes have to remind myself to put my camera and phone away and enjoy what’s in front of me but I’m pretty good at it now. I learned this lesson the hard way when I saw the northern lights. I was so busy trying to take photos the whole time that looking back at my memory I can vaguely remember what I saw through my eyes because I was too busy trying to take a photo of it. Since that trip to Iceland 2 years ago, I’ve changed the way that I travel. Which is why my social media posts aren’t always live.
There are also times when I travel and there are times that I don’t. When I’m not traveling there is always a reason behind it; whether it’s for health reasons, money reasons or my family is in, from out of town. Sometimes it’s because I’m trying to catch up on life and past travels. For whatever reason, it might be a mystery to some and I figured I wanted to get in on a more personal level with you guys on what’s been going on in my world in that month.
For example, March was a really hard month for me health wise. When I got back from my trip to Cuba and Mexico, I came back home like a soldier from war, I was beyond exhausted. I got no sleep on my trip, I barely ate because I was too busy trying to see and do everything there is to do in my short amount of time during my trip. I came back home with THE WORST sunburn of my life and FYI, I NEVER get sunburned. I was sunburned from head to toe, front and back and to top it all off, I had over 70 bug bites after putting on mosquito repellent and sunscreen – when I got back. I was a total mess. I was trying to catch up on sleep and on healthy eating. As it turns out being a vegetarian/vegan in most countries in the world isn’t an easy task for me at all. To top it all off, I ended up getting the flu and when that ended I was suffering from anxiety and panic attacks. At first, I didn’t realize it was anxiety and panic attacks, I thought for sure I ate something bad or got sick from the water in Mexico until I realized what had really happened. I thought I was done there but NOPE! It also turned out that I needed 2 root canals after dying with teeth pain and starving for almost 3 weeks. Ya, March wasn’t a good month for me health wise at all! It was probably 6 weeks of me feeling terrible until I finally started feeling good again.
My teeth problem was totally my fault. Before I went to Tokyo, I knew I had to get something small fixed, but I wanted to spend my money on traveling and I found out it was only $300, so I kept pushing it back because of my addiction to traveling (traveler’s anonymous anyone?). Later I forgot about it until I found out I needed 2 root canals that cost $4000 (root canals + crowns)! Which I’m still shocked at the price of it in America! So I had to cancel a trip I had already planned :-/
Anyways, I learned a hardcore lesson in March – seriously, health over everything!
