California Donuts
California Donuts is an LA classic! it’s been around since 1982 and specializes in fun and unique donuts using your favorite cereals like lucky charms and cinnamon crunch and cookies like Oreos to create the perfect fun donuts. They also do theme donuts for holidays. On top of that, if you have a special occasion coming up they make customized donuts for events where you can spell out words and also get numbers, but you do have to place an order in advance. I’ve seen Instagram users get “THANK YOU 100k” with their donuts. California Donut’s Instagram page has almost a half a million followers and I’m really not surprised because it’s the perfect Instagram donuts.
The best part is this place is opened 24/7 – 365 days a year, BUT always has a line no matter what time of the day it is. Parking is also limited but well worth it.
Ladurée
I am so happy that LA brought one of my favorite pieces of Paris to LA, which is Ladurée, Paris’s classic and famous macaroon shop. Currently, there are 2 locations in Los Angeles, one in Beverly Hills next to Rodeo Drive. Most recently, they just opened a location at The Grove and I was there for the opening. There are also crazy lines at the Grove location, but again, well worth it! You have the option of just picking up macaroons or you can actually dine in their restaurant.
Address:
- 311 N Beverly Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 (8am-7pm)
- The Grove, 189 The Grove Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90036 (9am-10pm)
Bottega Louie
Bottega Louie is a fairly new spot in LA but they have such great macaroons and beautiful packaging. It’s mainly a restaurant and totally in the style of Laduree (Parisian chic) but serve more of Italian food. Besides their beautiful collection of macaroons, they offer other amazing desserts.
Address:
700 South Grand Avenue (at West 7th Street); 213-802-1470
Sprinkles Cupcakes – ATM
Having some midnight craving for sweets or just want really good cupcakes in the coolest way possible?
Sprinkles Cupcakes came up with one of the coolest dessert experiences you’ll ever have, which is the Cupcake ATM machine! You order your cupcake like you would use an ATM machine and after making your selection and paying, the cupcake is served to you from the window right next to it! How amazing is that? The cool thing about this invention is that they are actually all over the US. Check their site for more locations:

Barton G. – The Restaurant
Speaking of cool food experience, this spot just takes it to a whole other level of amazing and will leave you at an awe. If you haven’t heard of Barton G you need to check their website and make a reservation ASAP! It’s one of the quirkiest and coolest restaurants in all of Los Angeles. Everything you order on the menu is an experience on its own. For example, if you order popcorn they will bring a popcorn machine to your table. If you order funnel cake, the plate comes with a fun game of shooting the ducks. They are most famously known for their display of cotton candy, which is served with an over-sized manikin doll’s head with cotton candy as her hair. They call it the “Marie Antoinette’s Head – Let Them Eat Cake”. There are so much more cool dishes at this place and the way they serve it to your table, just google it.
This place doesn’t accept walk-ins and in most cases, you will have to make a booking a week in advance if not longer. ALSO, really important, they don’t allow guest to only come for dessert, you have to order an actual meal.
Address:
861 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90069 (6pm-10pm)

Compartes Chocolatier
Compartes Chocolatier literally has the coolest and most creative chocolate bars I have ever seen. The creator uses some of the oddest ingredients you could ever think of putting into a chocolate bar and yet they all come out so delicious! For example, some chocolate bars have white chocolate and organic matcha green tea (yummy), other have s’mores dark chocolate with marshmallows and crackers and some even have cereal in them, like lucky charms. They also have the birthday flavor with cake batter and sprinkles, donuts and coffee flavor, popcorn flavor and more! But for a more odd flavor try their healthy chocolate bar with kale, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and no added sugar, vegan and gluten free. I’ve actually tried one of their healthier versions which had quinoa, matcha green tea and I think white chocolate and it was pretty good!
If you don’t live in Los Angeles, you can place an online order!

If you love ice cream and macaroons, Milk is the place to go for the best of both worlds! Milk is famously known for their delicious ice cream sandwiches with macaroons in different flavors and cereal toppings. If you stop at this spot, there are also other yummy desserts to try out, including cakes, cookies and milkshakes. A total must visit!
