Sometimes, you just need to get away from life’s responsibilities. You need a chance to let loose, laugh a lot and pamper yourself. You need a girls’ trip.

You and your group of gal pals can rent a convertible and drive with the top down blasting Britney Spears and Taylor Swift. And what better place to go than the bikinis and sunshine of San Diego?

One of the most important parts of your vacation is your hotel. Stay at the Crowne Plaza San Diego for a relaxing and lovely couple of nights to get refreshed for your girls’ day and nights out.

To help you plan your girls’ trip, I made an itinerary for some of the best places for you and your girlfriends to check out during your stay in San Diego.

Donut Bar

Start the day off right with a giant and delicious donut from Donut Bar. The menu changes daily, and it’s a popular spot so set your alarm clocks early to get some of the best and most unique breakfast flavors in town.

Mission Beach Boardwalk

After your delectable donut, walk off some of those calories by taking a walk on the Mission Beach Boardwalk. If you somehow grow tired of the ocean, step out to Mission Bay Park to see the hundreds of colorful kites soaring in the sky. They also have tons of hiking and biking trails. Do both. Get the beach, and enjoy the lovely woods of San Diego in the same day.

Gaslamp Quarter

Next, you and your girls can take a stroll downtown to see beautiful Victorian architecture, art galleries and fun mom and pop shops in the Gaslamp Quarter. Make sure to bring your cameras and some cash.

Babycakes

Home to some of the most massive cupcakes in the country, Babycakes has sweet treats and drinks for a good afternoon pick-me-up for you and your gal pals. The flavors fall into the traditional cupcake flavors—red velvet, classic chocolate and peanut butter chocolate—but the cake is anything but traditional in the moistness and fluffiness. They also have mini cupcakes, or you can split an oversized cupcake. Or hey, you’re on vacation, you can have your cake and eat it too!

Spa Day

After all that walking and outside entertainment, and possible sugar crash, you might want a much-needed break. For total relaxation, pamper yourselves at one the incredible and luxurious spas of the valley. Eco Chateau Spa provides a way for your group to enjoy the spa treatment while staying green. Their Go Green Initiative brought about a spa that is 70% powered by solar panels and creates minimal waste, so you can enjoy your spa time without the guilt.

The Smoking Goat

The Smoking Goat is a farm-to-table restaurant, meaning they don’t skimp on prices, but they also don’t skimp on freshness. The chef and owner, Fred Piehl, lived in Switzerland growing up and learned to appreciate the freshness of farm-to-table culinary training. All ingredients used here are local and organic. They’re delicious and good for you; it’s a win-win.

La Jolla Cove

Bond with your gal pals over the beauty of a gorgeous purple and orange sunset setting over the Pacific Ocean at La Jolla Cove. There’s no better view in the city than the cove.

Onyx Nightclub

After the sunset, party at one of the hottest clubs in town. The cover charge gets you into both swanky clubs that have totally different vibes. It’s an upscale club, so skip the pool dress and sandals for an LBD or a sparkly party dress and stilettos. They switch up the genre of music played each night from soul to rumba and other options, so get ready to dance the night away like back in your college days.

The Draft

If you’re not dancing girls, but drinking is your thing, head over to The Draft for drinks. Not only do they have an incredible beer, but they also offer a lemon meringue pie milkshake for any non-drinkers in your group. Their tagline is oceanfront brews and views, which is fitting because it’s set on the beautiful San Diego oceanfront. The Draft is the perfect spot to soak in the views while sipping on some hoppy beers.
