Arriving at Greece, Athens
Athens felt very comfortable to me right away, as if I had been there before. The airport was small, the people were kind and helpful. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I flow from Israel which is my native country and hearing Hebrew in a foreign country’s airport, does give comfort.
My first impression of Athens from the airport to my hotel was…
that it looked a lot like Israel, but when I actually arrived and explored, it reminded me a lot of Rome. I always find it funny that everywhere I travel to, always reminds be of a combo of other places I’ve been to, small world.
I arrived at my hotel, around 10:30am and as I was waiting for my room to be ready I had met a very sweet girl, by the name of Chelsea, as we hit it off right away, we had met another girl as well named Jill. The 3 of us went to explore a little of the area around us and to find a place to get something cold to drink. We had found this cute little fancy renaissance style restaurant. We were greeted so nicely as I told the waitress it’s our first day in Greece! She was so excited and enthusiastic about us coming to Greece and dinning at her restaurant. We chatted over ice coffee and got a bit to eat. Later on at night as we were headed to dinner in Plaka, we got a great view of the Parthenon, all lit up on the hill. We ended up at this ethnic Greek restaurant, where Greek music was playing and dancers performed, showing off their Greek moves, meanwhile food was being served to us non-stop. Later on the night, I enjoyed a glass of red wine on the rooftop of my hotel with friends I met, overlooking the entire city.
It was a great welcome to Greece fest and a fun first day!
Well my window view from my hotel room was quite interesting, 5 naked men and I only just arrived to Greece! 😉
On the roof top of our hotel, trying to take it all in! What an amazing view of the city of Athens!
Cheers to a new friendship and to Greece!
Walking the streets of Athens, on the way to have dinner.
My favorite place in Athens, hands down is Plaka! How amazing is this place? A busy little stairs way, where many restaurants have their tables spread out on each step. Some dine on actually tables and chairs, others are sitting on pillows on the ground. A great place to go out at night.
My first traditional Greek salad in Greece! Chelsea and I were obsessing over it.
Ugh, I’m so jealous! I loved Greece! Great food, parties & beautiful people. It’s one of the best places on Earth. You are so lucky!
